The “best choir in the world” Libera blessed Britain’s Got Talent 2026 with an angelic tribute to the late Beach Boys great Brian Wilson, but the judges’ reaction stirred a controversy among fans. The choir, aged 7-16, had viewers tearing up with such a moving and heavenly rendition of Brian’s most legendary song, “God Only Knows.” The harmonies were just too pure. The combination of the tremendous talents of the boys and the still raw loss of Brian made for such an emotional audition.

However, when it came to the live audience and judges’ response, fans watching at home were not so impressed. A top commenter said, “I cannot believe that not a single soul stood up for these young men. I am deeply saddened. They were absolutely wonderful. The harmony was great and the singing was out of this world!” Other viewers said Libera definitely deserved the golden buzzer—especially given the quality of some of the other acts that got the golden buzzer in recent weeks.
Libera auditioned on April 9, 2026, and their audition hit 246,000 views within two weeks. The Music Man readers might not be surprised to hear that viewers watching at home had plenty of praise for the South London choir and added comments such as “One of the best choirs in the world” and “I still have tears running and a lump in my throat. Thank you so so much. Just beautiful.”
The talented lads in Libera are no strangers to going viral. They have produced a number of hit performances with their uploads on their YouTube channel, Libera Official. One of the choir’s most uplifting performances is their take on Takatsugu Muramatsu’s “Far Away.” The pure tones of the boys’ voices and impeccable harmonies make for such a special performance. The Music Man also has to give it up for the group’s impressive vocal arrangements!
While Libera didn’t score the golden buzzer with their Britain’s Got Talent performance, the judges still gave the boys their dues. Amanda Holden opened the judges’ comments by saying, “Oh gosh, that blend of voices, and that song. That song is one of my all-time favourite songs, and I’ve never heard it done like that before.” KSI then made the lads grin with his straightforward feedback. Britain’s Got Talent’s newest judge said, “You guys smashed it, honestly. I felt like I was in heaven, and that was the soundtrack.” Libera then got four yes votes from the judges, which prompted a super cute celebration from the boys.
