Simon Cowell has been looking for the next big thing ever since One Direction packed it up. Has he found it with this hard-rocking boy band? The four talented lads of Bournemouth act SOS shocked Britain’s Got Talent 2026 by taking “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” and giving it a rocking reinterpretation that no one was quite expecting, especially from a boy band. The boys quickly got the entire room on their feet and singing along on the Backstreet Boys classic.

Simon Cowell’s ear-to-ear smile said it all. But no one was more hyped than KSI, who was on his feet and jumping like he was front row at a Backstreet Boys concert. Great British boy bands are a bit of a lost art these days, and The Music Man is sure glad to see SOS bringing it back! Frontman Josh “JV” Vaughan definitely brought the x-factor here, and has the pipes to deliver the goods on this Backstreet Boys classic.
SOS’s audition hit YouTube on March 1, where it gained 176,000 views. Viewers got a kick out of the ‘90s throwback, and added comments such as “Finally I’ve been waiting to see a rock band on the show for years and the fact they mixed rock with boy bands was even better. I really hope they win” and “I’m a huge fan of rock and these guys were absolutely superb! They literally rocked the house down to the point I felt like I was at their concert. So far they are one of my favourites this series.”
So far SOS has only appeared once on Britain’s Got Talent. They have shared several songs on their YouTube channel, though. Their most popular upload to date is their debut single “With U”. The verses here show off a bit of a lighter, poppier side to their sound. But when SOS kicks into the chorus, they mix some chunky riffs with pop sensibilities, similar to their take on “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)”.
SOS is an English pop rock four-piece, whose lineup features JV, Sparxx Jenkins, Ash Jenkins, and Josh Rose. Sparxx and Ash are brothers who met Josh at school, while JV became the band’s frontman three years ago. SOS’s Britain’s Got Talent audition was a hit. Judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and KSI quickly voted yes for the boys. Simon appeared to take a little more convincing, but when he saw how much the crowd loved SOS, he gave the boys their fourth yes vote.
