Residents said the parade provided an opportunity for neighboring communities to come together in support of Harper and celebrate her success on the national stage. After the parade, Harper performed a free concert on a stage at the Willow Springs High School football field. Jo Dee Messina surprised Harper on stage and sang a duet with Harper.
Before the concert, Harper said she chose to sing country music to reach more people with a Christian message.
“The clouds gave way tonight to witness a beautiful sunset and a rising star from Willow Springs – Hannah Harper!” said Linda Null of Wappapello, one of many who drove many miles to support Harper. “She returned home from American Idol and put on a free concert for her hometown community. Back home with her family’s band, consisting of her dad, a nephew, two brothers and a long- time family friend (drummer from Greenville, MO), they put on a lively concert with a little gospel and a lot of down home country – we loved it! Hannah had no idea that she was going to be joined on stage by a surprise visitor – Jo Dee Messina! Next week Hannah will be singing with Lee Ann Womack for the final episode of American Idol.”

During the concert, Harper was presented with resolutions from the Missouri legislature and was also recognized by Congressman Jason Smith who said that her accomplishments has been entered into the Congressional record, and he presented her with a copy of the document.
