‘A TRIBUTE IN EVERY NOTE AND EVERY STITCH’ — Coco Jones didn’t just stun fans with her emotionally powerful rendition of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” ahead of Super Bowl LX — she also paid homage to one of the most unforgettable Super Bowl musical moments in history by channeling Whitney Houston’s iconic 1991 performance through her striking all-white look. Standing on the field in a custom ensemble designed by Karl Kani that echoed Houston’s legendary tracksuit and headband — but updated with bold Pan-African accents — Jones crafted a visual tribute that resonated as deeply as her vocals did, linking past and present in a moment of cultural pride and historical reflection that turned her performance into both a celebration and a statement on legacy.

Super Bowl fans were left speechless by Coco Jones’ incredible rendition of the ‘black national anthem’ ahead of kickoff in San Francisco.

The song – titled ‘Lift Every Voice and Sing’ – has long been a controversial pregame tradition, with some fans previously calling for a boycott, but this year’s performance went down a storm with viewers.

On social media, one viewer wrote: ‘Coco Jones is so beautiful and her voice is so RICH!!’, while another added: ‘Coco Jones eating!!!’

A third said: ‘Coco Jones did what needed to be done.’

The 28-year-old South Carolina native wore a stunning all-white outfit, pairing a flowing skirt with a white jacket and headband for her performance.

She stood on a stage, with deaf performer Fred Beam alongside her as interpreter, and three violin players behind her to complement the performance.

Jones sang the first of three anthems ahead of the Super Bowl, with Charlie Puth performing the Stars and Stripes, and Brandi Carlile singing America The Beautiful.

Green Day also performed a medley of their hits ahead of the big game, sending the crowd wild at Levi’s Stadium before the real action got underway.

The game itself will see the Seattle Seahawks take on the New England Patriots for the chance to lift the Lombardi trophy.
