Loni Anderson’s Husband Bob Flick Breaks Silence After Her Death — Reveals the Birthday Gift He Never Got to Give Her

Bob Flick, longtime husband of beloved actress Loni Anderson, has broken his silence in the wake of her heartbreaking death — and what he shared about her final birthday plans has left fans and loved ones in tears.

Loni, who famously starred as Jennifer Marlowe on WKRP in Cincinnati, passed away on July 18 at a Los Angeles hospital following a prolonged illness. She was just days away from her 80th birthday.

Now, in an emotional statement, Bob Flick — founding member of the folk group The Brothers Four, and Loni’s devoted partner of nearly two decades — has revealed the surprise he had planned for the milestone she never got to see.

Speaking through misty eyes at a private family gathering, Bob shared:

“I’ve sung a lot of songs in my life, but Loni was the only melody I never wanted to end.”

“Her birthday was just days away. I had everything ready — not a big party, just a beautiful afternoon with music, her favorite flowers, and the one gift I thought would make her smile the most. But now, it sits unopened… and I can’t bear to move it.”

The Gift He’ll Never Give

According to a family friend, Bob had spent months working on a custom song — a gentle acoustic ballad he wrote for Loni called “Eighty Roses” — a nod to her upcoming 80th birthday and the countless ways she had brought beauty into people’s lives.

“He recorded it secretly at a studio in Nashville,” the source said. “He was going to play it for her at brunch, just them, soft and simple. He had even had a vinyl copy pressed — just one.”

Bob reportedly paired the song with a delicate gold locket, engraved with the words “My Forever Jennifer” — a loving nod to her most iconic role.

“He told us, ‘It wasn’t just a character. That’s how I saw her. Graceful, witty, glowing.’”

Loni and Bob’s marriage was often described by those close to them as one of Hollywood’s rare, enduring love stories. Married in 2008, the two were inseparable — often seen hand-in-hand at events, award shows, and quiet getaways.

“We weren’t flashy. We were just in love,” Bob once said in an interview. “We liked coffee on the patio more than any red carpet.”

Though the gift was never delivered, Bob reportedly plans to release the song publicly later this year, with proceeds going to women’s heart health and COPD awareness, causes that Loni fiercely supported.

“She believed in helping people feel seen and remembered,” he said. “So that’s what I’ll keep doing — for her.”

Loni Anderson may never have heard that birthday ballad. But the man who loved her most will carry it in his heart forever.

And now, so will we. 💔🌹

Rest in peace, Loni.
