It’s not unusual for someone battling a life-changing illness to win hearts on a TV talent show. But when Ravi’s Dream Team auditioned on the 17th season of Britain’s Got Talent, singing “A Million Dreams” from the movie musical The Greatest Showman, judges Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden were left with tears literally streaming down their faces.

This incredible choir was pulled together by Ravi Adelekan, an eight-year-old boy with a brain tumour and a sensational level of optimism. Joined by his younger sister Maya, his parents, friends, and teachers from school, as well as medical professionals and children from the brain tumour community, Ravi’s Dream Team was made up of around 50 people ranging in age from five to 78. They packed the BGT stage with support for Ravi’s cause, crossing all generations and walks of life.

Ravi kicked off the song with a sweet, solo verse before his immense and enthusiastic choir joined in with the musical hit. Ravi’s brave little sister even took her own solo lines, making the unison of the entire choir even more astounding, finalizing their feel-good yet heart-touching performance.

Whilst the choir reveled in the audience’s crazed applause, Alesha slammed the Golden Buzzer, releasing a wave of confetti and sending the tearful choir straight through to the live shows. Simon Cowell was the first to give his critique, telling Ravi and his Dream Team, “I’m so happy that you’ve had this moment because you deserve it, all of you. That’s what I call magic.”

Alesha could be seen holding back tears through Simon’s touching comments, and when it came to her turn, she nearly broke down completely. Through teary eyes, she called Ravi “a remarkable young man,” while Bruno Tonioli called him a “hero.”

Ravi was diagnosed with a benign tumor in his brain stem when he was six. He underwent a 10-hour operation that failed to remove the whole growth, and has since dedicated himself to fundraising for Brains Trust and The Brain Tumour Charity. Despite battling reduced balance, hearing, and vision, Ravi’s 2024 BGT audition was designed to show that “no matter what life throws at you, you can still achieve your dreams.” He’s certainly proved it possible – even releasing a charity single with pop superstars Paloma Faith, Bastille, and Metronomy.

After winning the Golden Buzzer, confirming his place in the live shows, Ravi spoke to The Sun about what he might do if he won BGT’s £250,000 cash prize: “If we won, it would help us reach our fundraising goal, but also winning would just bring so much more awareness of brain tumors.” His website, ravisdream.com, reveals that “Ravi’s dream is to have a future where tumors like his could be treated without the type of major surgery he went through.”

This wonderful choir, Ravi’s Dream Team, was brought to life by the young and optimistic Ravi Adelekan. Their inspiring audition on the 17th season of Britain’s Got Talent left judges and audience moved to tears. Ranging from five years old to 78, these 50 remarkable individuals from all walks of life joined together to support Ravi’s noble cause. This includes Ravi’s brave little sister Maya, his parents, his friends and teachers from school, medical professionals, and children from the brain tumour community. Their performance of “A Million Dreams” from musical The Greatest Showman was delivered with such passion and unity that it will truly touch your heart.
