“Remembering Rob Reiner ❤️” — just one short line, but SNL managed to hit viewers right in the chest on the December 20, 2025 episode. The tribute appeared right before the goodnights, simple and quiet, yet heavy with emotion. Many people forget Reiner hosted SNL’s third-ever episode back in 1975 and even jumped into sketches with the original cast. His passing, along with his wife Michele’s, has left Hollywood in shock and mourning. It was only a few seconds on screen, but it pulled everyone back to an era when those early moments helped shape comedy history.

Saturday Night Live’s moving tribute to Rob Reiner as Hollywood continues mourning loss of showbiz great

Saturday Night Live has paid tribute to the late Rob Reiner following his heartbreaking death at age 78 last week.

The actor and his wife Michele Singer Reiner, 70, were found stabbed to death at their home last weekend and their son, Nick, has been charged in the killing, facing two counts of first-degree murder and a possible life sentence.

Hollywood has been in mourning ever since, and on December 20th, Saturday Night Live remembered the actor who once appeared on their show decades earlier.

Before their goodnight segment, the episode honored Rob with a title card featuring a photo of the late star.

The show also tweeted a photo of the title card, writing: ‘Rob Reiner (grey heart emoji).’

Rob hosted the third episode of Saturday Night Live back in 1975, and appeared in a sketch entitled ‘Bees’ Dramatic Scene.

In February 2025, Rob and Michele showed their support for the program as they attended SNL’s 50th anniversary homecoming concert.

The tribute is the latest from a community heartbroken over his death.

Rob’s son Nick was arrested in connection with last weekend’s killing of the couple, officials said Monday.

The lifeless bodies of the couple had been discovered Sunday afternoon at their home in Brentwood, California, with detectives saying they believe they died as a result of lethal stab wounds.

According to The New York Times, the couple’s daughter, Romy Reiner, entered the home after receiving a call from a massage therapist who was unable to gain access to the property.

After discovering her father’s body, Romy allegedly ‘fled’ the residence and was later informed by a paramedic that her mother had also been found dead inside.

Earlier this week, Nick’s siblings Romy, 27, and Jake, 34, released a heart wrenching statement.

‘Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day,’ a statement from the grieving siblings reads.

‘The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience.

‘They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends. We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life.’

The pair asked people for ‘respect and privacy’ and urged the public to treat any speculation with ‘compassion and humanity’.

Jake and Romy said they wanted their father, a legend in Hollywood, and acclaimed photographer mother, to be remembered for the ‘incredible lives they lived and the love’ they gave.

The statement from Romy and Jake comes after their father’s close friend Billy Crystal also broke his silence to pay tribute to the late director.

The actor, who famously worked with Reiner on When Harry Met Sally, joined friends and colleagues including Larry David, Martin Short and director Barry Levinson, among others, in praising him as ‘a great comic actor’ and ‘a master storyteller’.

‘There is no other director who has his range,’ the joint statement said. It paid homage to Reiner’s incredible film career as well as to his ‘special’ 36-year marriage to ‘perfect partner’ Michele.

“This one changed me.” Ali Larter has played unforgettable women — but Angela Norris in Landman hit somewhere deeper. In a rare, candid reflection, Larter admits this role wasn’t just about learning lines or hitting marks; it was about stepping into a world where strength is quiet, pressure is constant, and vulnerability comes at a cost. Angela lives inside high-stakes rooms where ambition collides with unspoken fear, and Larter says carrying that weight altered how she approached the character — and herself. Fans are already calling the performance raw, grounded, and unsettlingly real. As Brooks & Dunn struck the first notes of “Amarillo by Morning,” the room shifted instantly. There was no reinvention, no dramatic buildup — just pure country, steady and unadorned, exactly the way George Strait has always done it. In that simplicity, the tribute found its power. The cameras quickly found George in the audience. He didn’t perform for them. He didn’t try to mask the emotion. His expression remained calm, but his eyes told the story — growing misty as the song unfolded, each familiar line sounding less like an honor and more like a mirror held up to his own life and career. This wasn’t nostalgia dressed up for television. It was recognition, delivered in the language he understands best.

The Temptations stepped onto The Ed Sullivan Show on September 28, 1969, and sang “I Can’t Get Next to You” like they were at the very top of their game. But if you look closely, that night wasn’t only about bright lights and big cheers. Paul Williams was already having health problems, yet he still stood with the group, still hit the moves, and still kept a calm smile. That’s what makes this performance so touching—because behind the strong voices and perfect dancing, there was real strength and quiet pain.
