The American Idol race is tightening at the worst possible moment for several contestants, as new poll results and social media momentum begin to reveal a clearer picture of who’s really locked into the finale—and who’s slipping just before the finish line

With only two episodes left before the American Idol Season 24 finale on May 11, the fight for the final three spots is becoming more intense and the bottom of the leaderboard is starting to look much clearer.

Following the April 27 episode, Brooks Rosser and Daniel Stallworth were eliminated after the Top 7 performed songs from Taylor Swift’s catalog, leaving just five contestants still in the race: Hannah Harper, Keyla Richardson, Jordan McCullough, Braden Rumfelt, and Chris Tungseth.

Now, America will decide which three singers advance to the finale and which two will be the last contestants sent home before the final showdown.

While the official results remain in viewers’ hands through live voting, several indicators, including YouTube performance views, Instagram followings, fan polls, and recent momentum, are helping shape predictions for who is most likely to survive the next cut.

At the top of the competition, Hannah Harper continues to look like the contestant everyone has to beat.

After Monday’s episode, Hannah returned to No. 1 in Gold Derby’s fan poll with 35.4% after performing “Mean” and “That’s the Way Love Goes,” marking her sixth week leading the rankings. She also holds the strongest overall finale odds at 71.9%, far ahead of the rest of the field.

Her consistency has been one of the biggest stories of the season. Ever since her audition went viral, Hannah has remained a major force, and one of her Top 7 performances currently holds the highest YouTube views of any remaining contestant at 53,000. She also dominates social media with 388,000 Instagram followers — by far the largest following in the Top 5.

Even after briefly falling to third place following Disney Night, Hannah quickly reclaimed control, proving she still has the strongest support heading into the most important rounds.

However, Keyla Richardson remains her biggest challenger.

Although Hannah leads the fan polls, some ranking predictions have placed Keyla in the No. 1 spot based on her recent live audience reactions and strong YouTube performance numbers. Her Top 7 performances earned 45,000 and 42,000 views, and many viewers have considered her one of the strongest live performers of the season.

She currently sits second in Gold Derby’s latest rankings with 21.5%, and many believe she could still pull off a late surprise.

Jordan McCullough continues to hold firm in third place and may be the season’s most dangerous late-game contender. His strong Taylor Swift Night performances of “Tim McGraw” and “I Can’t Make You Love Me” helped him earn 19.4% in the latest poll, while his YouTube numbers and growing fan support continue to rise.

Jordan already proved how quickly the rankings can change after his late surge pushed him briefly into first place after Disney Night.

But below the top three, the picture becomes much more concerning.

Braden Rumfelt and Chris Tungseth now appear to be the two contestants most at risk of missing the finale.

Braden currently ranks fourth, with only 31,100 Instagram followers — the lowest among the Top 5 — and his Top 7 performances drew just 16,000 and 29,000 YouTube views, putting him behind the frontrunners in both online engagement and fan momentum.

Chris faces an even tougher battle. Although he survived being in the bottom three last week, he continues to trail in fan support and landed last in the latest Gold Derby poll with just 7.8%. Many predictions originally expected him to be eliminated alongside Daniel, but it was Brooks who ultimately went home instead.

That survival may have bought him one more week, but it also made his position heading into the semifinals even more fragile.

Based on the current numbers, Braden Rumfelt and Chris Tungseth appear to be the most likely contestants to be eliminated before the May 11 finale, while Hannah Harper remains the clear frontrunner to win the entire season.

Still, if this season has proven anything, it is that nothing stays the same for long.

One strong performance, one emotional moment, or one late voting surge could change everything — but for now, the road to the finale looks clearest for Hannah, Keyla, and Jordan, while Braden and Chris face the toughest fight for survival.
